Youth CCD Program

Our CCD program is dedicated to teaching parish children and to assist parents in their role as teachers. We want to help the youth of our parishes to know, love, and serve God and their neighbor. The philosophy of our program is to motivate the students entrusted to formal instruction and care, to live God's plan by word and works, as true Christians.

Catechetical classes are available for children in Pre-school (ages 3 & 4) through 8th grade. Classes are held on the first, third, and fourth Sundays of each month (September through May) from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Classes are conducted at the Annunciation BVM Church complex. Students meet in the church for an opening prayer and announcements and then move to their respective classrooms.

Our teachers and aides are dedicated volunteers who focus on the prescribed Diocesan curriculum in an interactive and enthusiastic approach. Each classroom is outfitted with internet access to take full advantage of the wide range of resources available for a vibrant faith formation experience. During the course of each school year, children have the opportunity to participate in formal liturgies of the church and reception of the sacraments: Mass, Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross, and an annual May Procession. Additionally, students participate in an annual candy sale to benefit the Frackville Food Bank; the Birthright Giving Tree project; the annual “Soup-er Bowl” Collection for the Frackville Food bank; and the parish Christmas Pageant.

All parish children are welcome to participate in our program and attendance is required for any child wishing to receive the sacraments. Registration is facilitated through the parish office and there is a fee per child to cover the cost of the text book. The program is coordinated by our D.R.E., Carolyn Tenaglia.
